Watch Tour de France 2024 in Monaco: route, timetable & where to go

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, Monaco will be hosting the Grande Boucle for the 12th time and will also be a stage town for the 7th time. This will be the 21st and final stage of the 111th Tour de France, and more specifically an individual time trial that will start in the Principality and finish in Nice on the Promenade des Anglais and then Place Masséna. A final test that could be the decider for clinching the title.

The Tour de France 2024 will end in Nice, not Paris, for the first time in its history because of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Overall, the 2024 Tour de France route covers 3,498 kilometers (2,174 miles) and contains 52,230 meters (171,358 feet) of total vertical climb.

20th stage (132 km): Nice-Col de la Couillole

The penultimate stage of the 2024 Tour de France promises to be intense, with little time in the valley and four climbs in store. Over the 132km route, the riders will have to climb the Col de Braus (10km at 6.6%), the Turini (20.7km at 5.7%), famous for hosting the Monte Carlo Rally every year, the Colmiane (7.5km at 7.1%) and finally the Couillole, where Tadej Pogacar won the last Paris-Nice. In total, 4,400 metres of ascent to negotiate…

21st stage (35.2 km): Monaco-Nice

For the first time since 1989, the Tour de France will end with a time trial. From Monaco to Nice, by way of Port Hercule, the Larvotto tunnel, avenue Princesse Grace, La Turbie (8.1 km at 5.6%), the Col d’Eze (1.6 km at 8.1%) and Villefranche-sur-Mer for a finish on the Promenade des Anglais at the Place Massena, the route of this final time-trial promises to be spectacular in every sense of the word.

In addition, the 2024 Tour de France concludes with an Individual Time Trial, the second ITT of this year’s race and the first time the Tour de France will finish in such fashion since the legendary LeMond-Fignon duel in 1989.

Who to watch

For more on the favorites in the 2024 Tour de France field Bernd Buchmasser has you covered here.

People with reduced mobility area

For people with reduced mobility who are members of the Association Monégasque des Handicapés Moteurs (AMHM) and who hold a Monegasque or European priority card, and who wish to attend the start of the Tour de France on 21st July 2024 in the Principality, the Government of Monaco is setting up a reserved area located at 3-5 avenue J.F. Kennedy, under the new “Le Luciana” building

Access to this area will be via the “Costa” lift right next to the Institut Monégasque de Médecine du Sport (IM2S) on avenue d’Ostende.

Non-members of the AMHM who hold a Monegasque or European priority card and wish to attend the event are invited to contact the said association (e-mail: amhm98@libello.com; tel: +377.93.50.71.00 between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm) in order to reserve a place (subject to availability).

Please note that one chair per accompanying person will be provided in the zone.

A few rules to observe

The general rules applying to spectators at the Tour de France will of course be in force, notably that of not running alongside the cyclists.

Access along the route, which is free of charge, will be controlled by a barricade system in the Principality.

Spectators will also be asked to respect the instructions given by the staff in charge of pedestrian crossings: priority will systematically be given to the Tour de France participants (riders, official cars, accompanying motorbikes and the publicity caravan) as they pass.

Finally, please note: the use of drones will be prohibited for safety reasons and campervans/motorhomes are not permitted to park in Monaco.
