The OceanXplorer’s visit to Monegasque waters on August 30th, 2022 celebrates the longstanding commitment between the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and OceanX to further ocean research, education, outreach, and conservation efforts.
OceanX’s research vessel, OCEAN XPLORER, made a significant visit to Monaco on August 30 and 31, marking a special occasion that underscores the enduring commitment between OceanX and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. This partnership is dedicated to advancing the realms of ocean research, education, outreach, and conservation.
The visit, which was a joint announcement by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the global nonprofit ocean exploration organization OceanX, symbolized the shared mission of these organizations. It included a two-day event, commencing on August 30, that featured exclusive tours of the OceanXplorer, an extraordinary vessel renowned for its cutting-edge capabilities in exploration, research, and media production.

During this visit, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Mr. Pierre Casiraghi were warmly received by Mr. Ray Dalio and Mark Dalio. Additionally, Mr. Olivier Wenden, Vice President and CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, played a pivotal role in hosting the distinguished guests for a private tour. They also had the opportunity to meet with the OceanXplorer crew, facilitating an exchange of ideas and insights.

Furthermore, the teams from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and their partners in Monaco were delighted to engage with the OceanXplorer and its crew, gaining a firsthand understanding of the exploration ship and its pivotal role in advancing ocean-related initiatives. OceanX and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation have joined forces since 2020 to protect the oceans. The Foundation has been dedicated to ocean preservation for years, focusing on coral reefs, Marine Protected Areas, plastic pollution, and endangered species. Both organizations share a passion for raising awareness and educating the public about marine biodiversity.
OceanX’s recent mission involves researching the Red Sea, with a focus on shallow water habitats, eDNA, seafloor mapping, and deep-sea ecosystems. This marks their second mission in the region after exploring the Gulf of Aqaba in 2020. These efforts underscore their commitment to ocean conservation.
