In 2022, a total of 3,480 green bonds were issued on a global scale. The largest share of these, numbering 1,696, were allocated to funding projects within the building construction sector. Following closely, the second-largest sector for green bond issuance was water, with 1,092 bonds issued. Energy stood as the third sector, with 1,023 bonds issued, while transportation and waste sectors held the fourth and fifth positions, with 718 and 236 green bonds issued, respectively.
