Traceability for Circularity Challenge

UpLink and Accenture are launching the Traceability for Circularity Challenge. This challenge is a global call for data and traceability solutions that provide business insights on value chain data and/or bring value to new circular business models focusing on common everyday materials and consumer goods.

Enabling circular business models with data and traceability

This challenge is a global call for data and traceability solutions that provide business insights on value chain data and/or bring value to new circular business models focusing on common everyday materials and consumer goods.

Our current resource management is not only unsustainable, but also the main driver of the triple planetary crisis: climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss (Global Resources Outlook 2024, UNEP). In particular, everyday common materials such as textiles, plastics, and food items face challenges in achieving circularity due to a lack of traceability throughout their lifecycle.

Without effective traceability solutions and circular value chains, these materials often end up in landfills or incinerators, contributing to resource depletion, pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, traceability at scale presents a monumental challenge due to the complexity and cost of data collection, validation, and security.
