H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Secretary General Alain Berset Meet to Commemorate Monaco’s 20 Years in the Council of Europe

During a special visit marking Monaco’s 20th anniversary as a member of the Council of Europe, Prince Albert II met with Secretary General Alain Berset. The two leaders discussed Monaco’s contributions to the Council’s work and underscored the importance of multilateralism in addressing the Organisation’s key priorities and challenges. Their conversation touched on pressing issues such as democratic backsliding and the numerous conflicts currently affecting Europe and beyond.

To celebrate the occasion, Monaco gifted the Council of Europe a collaborative artwork titled Ode to Freedom, created by street artist Anthony Alberti, known as Mr. OneTeas. Additionally, Monaco took a significant step in reinforcing human rights by ratifying Protocol No. 16 to the European Convention on Human Rights.
