Rurally-inspired city buildings

The “Ziel” high-rise building brings the country to the cityscape

The ‘”Ziel” high-rise building has been designed in collaboration between MVRDV and architect Monoblock as a structure for the cityscape that incorporates elements of the country. The building will measure in at 34-meters in height and will feature 40 apartments each finished with four different types of stone, while also prioritizing greenery. The building is designed for Montevideo, Uruguay and will feature a courtyard in the middle to maximize airflow as well as natural light within each of the apartments.

The “Ziel” high-rise building will feature an array of large shared patios across the second, fourth, sixth and eighth floors, and is expected to receive LEED-Platinum certification. The building also features a series of overhangs to reduce heat gain from the sun.
