A new Green Finance Guide has been launched to support London boroughs in accessing repayable financing options for their ambitious net-zero and climate adaptation goals. With a growing need for clarity around green financing mechanisms, this guide offers insights into over 20 financing sources from both the public and private sectors.
While boroughs may already be familiar with non-repayable grants, the guide focuses on repayable options, including:
- Debt (borrowed capital with interest obligations)
- Equity (capital raised through selling business shares)
The guide provides detailed information on funding sizes, application processes, and exclusions, while also highlighting available technical assistance and project development support to help boroughs navigate these complex financing options.
Developed with input from key partners, the guide is a critical tool in helping London boroughs secure the funding needed for their sustainability projects. It marks an important step in enabling the transition to a greener economy and ensuring effective financing solutions for the future of the city.
