Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina rendezvous focus on Eco-Innovation

Announcing the winners of the International Smart & Sustainable Marina Awards hosted by The Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous, September 25th at Yacht Club de Monaco.

The awards feature three categories, Startups & Scaleups, Marinas, and Architects and are designed to honor and celebrate exceptional achievements in the marina industry, with a focus on sustainability, technological innovation, and community building.

This year also included an ideas competition to inspire architects and students to create waterfront projects that are not only attractive and functional, but also sustainable. The renowned French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte chaired the jury to decide the winners.

Awards

The projects are aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices of marinas. The jury evaluates each submission based on criteria such as innovation, practicality, and effectiveness. The winners announced at the end of the Rendezvous on September 25th, 2023, receive recognition for their outstanding efforts in promoting smart and sustainable solutions in the marina industry.

WINNER 2023 – S3-GROUP GUANGZHOU ACADEMY

The International Smart & Sustainable Marina Awards honored the winners in the Start-up, Scale-up and Marina categories, as well as in the Architect category, through a new ideas competition aimed at professionals and students to create attractive, functional waterfront projects.

Architect Award

WINNER 2023 – FRESH ARCHITECTURES

This award recognizes design excellence of smart sustainable marinas and yacht clubs worldwide. The IGAA was created to advance the appreciation and exposure of measures taken for the environment as well as provision of features designed to enhance the customer experience. Submissions from all around the world are welcome.

WINNER 2023 – KARPAZ GATE MARINA

This award is based on a strong vision that Smart Marinas are like micro-cities which can lead the way towards urban development that is more respectful of the environment, being aligned and in harmony with the Ocean so close by.

WINNER 2023 – LIMASSOL MARINA

This award will reward the Marina which won over the public present at the Smart Marina event but also via the websites of Monaco Marina Management, the Yacht Club de Monaco and Blumorpho with its architecture, its environmental approach and the customer experience it offers.

Startup Award

WINNER 2023 – EHP2 MARINE

The essence is to present new solutions and innovative technologies that help protect the environment in order to encourage their implementation in the building and management of more virtuous marinas.

WINNER 2023 – NEREID WATER

The primary objective is to showcase novel solutions and cutting-edge technologies aimed at environmental preservation, with the goal of inspiring their adoption in the development and operation of eco-friendly marinas.

Scaleup Award

WINNER 2023 – OMNIFLOW

The essence is to present new solutions and innovative technologies that help protect the environment in order to encourage their implementation in the building and management of more virtuous marinas.

Organised by Monaco Marina Management (M3), experts in development, management and promotion of marinas & yacht clubs. The event enables financiers, policymakers and innovators to get together and and meet the whole marina ecosystem with a backdrop of sustainable tourism.

“We want to encourage initiatives to build more eco-responsible yachting. Infrastructures such as marinas must reflect yachting today, a more restrained yachting in line with the environmental challenges we face today”, says Bernard d’Alessandri, President Cluster Yachting Monaco and Yacht Club de Monaco General Secretary. 

This unique event is supported by Yacht Club de Monaco, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the government’s Extended Monaco digital transition programme for the Principality, as well as UBS, MB92 Group, Bombardier, GV Investments, Xerjoff and Royal Caviar House

“Over 250 people representing the ecosystem will be present,” says José Marco Casellini, CEO of M3, “It’s so important to put everyone in contact with those behind these innovations. Sustainability is at the heart of investment decisions today”.

To participate in the International Smart & Sustainable Marina Awards, winners have gone through a selection process of one-on-one interviews then a Consensus Meeting with the 60+ experts that comprise the international Jury.

This year again positive impact innovation experts, Blumorpho selected 50 startups and scaleups to be in the E-Catalogue, while Monaco Marina Management (M3) selected 20 marinas and architects from 26 countries from its network.

This event is part of the collective Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting approach, the ambition of which is to position the Principality as a centre of excellence in this sector.
