The project is located in Milam County, Texas, and will supply power to a Meta data center 10 miles away in Temple.
Meta will buy all energy produced by ENGIE North America’s 260-megawatt Sypert Branch solar project in Milam County, Texas, when it goes online in late 2025. The solar energy will power a Meta data center located just 10 miles away in Temple, Texas.
The power purchase agreement adds to “the more than 12 [gigawatts] of renewable energy procurement already announced by Meta,” ENGIE said in a release. Meta has so far contracted energy from 75 solar projects and 21 wind projects, according to its website.
The deal also helps ENGIE move closer to securing nearly 1 gigawatt of power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the U.S. this year. ENGIE’s renewable energy portfolio in North America spans 8 gigawatts, covering solar, wind, and battery storage.
In addition to this agreement, Meta recently signed a 374-megawatt solar deal with RWE and a geothermal energy agreement with Sage Geosystems for up to 150 megawatts. Meta also co-founded the Electric Power Research Institute’s new data center flexibility initiative, working alongside industry peers like Google and NVIDIA to promote digital infrastructure innovation and energy efficiency.
