Maersk unveils first low emission warehouse in Denmark, built to BREEAM standards

The new facility boasts zero direct emissions from operations and adheres to stringent environmental guidelines

The groundbreaking ceremony for Maersk’s new low emissions warehouse near Taulov Dry Port in Fredericia, Denmark, took place two years ago. On June 24, the facility was officially inaugurated, establishing a benchmark for the development of low-emission warehouses and logistics facilities. This milestone is a significant step towards Maersk’s goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2040.

The warehouse, built to BREEAM Excellent standards, features zero direct emissions from operations and utilizes solar energy for all equipment. Battery-powered trucks operate within the premises, and plans for hydrogen fueling stations within 150 meters of the site are underway. Strategically located with easy access to ports, rail, road, and the Billund air hub, the facility supports Maersk’s integrated logistics solutions at the core of its strategy. The land for the project was provided by Taulov Dry Port.

We are bringing to life a true logistics hub located right in the centre of the Danish Triangle Region. This will be a new centre of gravity, with easy access to the main infrastructure elements – ports, rail and road, but also our air hub in Billund – making it a perfect and tangible example of integrated logistics solutions that are at the heart of Maersk’s strategy. But more importantly, this facility also directly responds to the needs of our customers, many of whom are operating their own distribution centres and production facilities in the area.

Birna Ödefors, Managing Director Nordics at Maersk

It is a great honour to hold the inauguration of Maersk’s new warehouse in Taulov Dry Port. Maersk has seen the value in locating their storage facility here, at Denmark’s multimodal transportation hub. Our good collaboration has now entered a new phase, and we look forward to its continuation.
