Women In Ocean Food Innovation Studio: Empowering Female Entrepreneurs in Sustainable Seafood
The Women In Ocean Food Innovation Studio is a groundbreaking 10-day, equity-free program dedicated to fostering female-led innovation in the ocean food sector. Since its launch in 2021, the program has empowered women entrepreneurs across Asia and Latin America, with the latest session held in Baja California Sur, Mexico, in January 2024.
Focused on bridging the gender gap in the seafood industry—where women account for just 4% of top CEOs—the initiative supports commercial scalability, technological readiness, and industry fit for women-led businesses.
Hatch Blue and Conservation International Ventures LLC launched the world’s first global Women In Ocean Food Innovation Studio in 2021 to bridge this gender gap. Participants benefit from global mentorship, industry insights, and connections with aquaculture and blue economy experts.
Innovation Studio is appropriate for exploratory to early stage projects that may or may not yet be looking for equity investment. Candidate projects require further business and product development, and more in-depth knowledge on regional and global aquaculture industry.
Applications are now open for the next program, running in La Paz, Mexico, with plans for future expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa.
Please note: this programme is for women and gender-diverse leadership teams only. All travel, accommodation and food costs will be covered by the programme for those successful applications (x2 per team).
Programme kickoff: 6-16 January, 2025
