Collaborative EV batteries

Nissan and NASA are developing a 15-minute-charging solid-state battery

Nissan has teamed up with NASA to create a prototype EV that features a solid-state battery. This solid-state battery will be capable of charging much more quickly than a regular lithium-ion battery. Additionally, solid-state batteries can hold a much greater energy capacity for their size.

Nissan stated that it will develop an EV that features these solid-state batteries by 2028. These EVs will use solid-state batteries that cost as low as $75 kWh, meaning the automaker will be able to sell the vehicles for comparable prices to gas-powered models. This would remove one of the largest barriers to sustainable transportation, as many consumers simply do not drive an electric vehicle because of the large capital required at the initial purchase.
