A significant development occurred in 2023, as the Festival introduced sustainability criteria in all award submissions for the first time.
This represents a crucial stride towards making each advertisement an environmentally conscious one. The Cannes Lions team intends to employ the entry data to generate a benchmark report, illustrating the industry’s progress in integrating sustainability into its endeavors.
This data will empower the Cannes Lions team, in collaboration with Ad Net Zero, to scrutinize the submissions, pinpoint instances where the industry is adopting sustainable practices, and foster discussions regarding the inclusion of sustainability as standard criteria in future award entries.
